Southfield, MI – October 18, 2017, Together Health Network (togetherhealthnetwork.org) in conjunction with Ascension Michigan has launched a virtual care direct-to-consumer service that provides patients with 24/7/365 access to board-certified doctors and pediatricians via secure online video or smartphone. The program, piloted by Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, is an on-demand health service that will now be provided through all Ascension Michigan hospital websites.
Serviced through Together Health Network’s partnership with MDLIVE, a telehealth provider focused on digital delivery of high quality, convenient, cost-efficient medical care, the new service is designed to provide patients an alternative to ER or urgent care visits for non-emergency issues, including sore throats, asthma, skin rash, fever, and more. Patients can access the new service via a landing page on all Ascension hospital sites at :https://members.mdlive.com/ascensionmi/new_registration.
Virtual medical consultations are conducted through a HIPAA and PHI-compliant platform that allows patients to talk to a doctor from home, work or on the go and, if necessary, patients can obtain e-prescriptions.
According to Scott Eathorne, president and CEO of Together Health Network, “We are pleased to announce this direct-to-consumer service known as On-Demand Care. We share a common goal with Ascension to identify innovative ways to increase patient access to care, improve patient experience, and encourage and reinforce use of the Patient Centered Medical Home model for the patients we serve.”
Eathorne indicated that, “Consumers can see a virtual doctor for non-emergent illnesses by simply logging onto any of the Ascension hospital websites in Michigan to arrange for On-Demand Care, anywhere. As we launch this care platform, Together Health Network physicians will be available to consult with patients along with physicians from MDLIVE. Over time, Together Health Network will partner with more local physicians, including Ascension physicians, to handle these virtual visits.” To find out more about virtually enabled care, visit: https://www.togetherhealthnetwork.org/virtualcaremi/
